The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has announced that providing psychological counseling services and humanitarian support can help improve the mental and social conditions of women and girls in Afghanistan.
The organization reported on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, that the women who received support demonstrate how counseling services and support programs in mother and child care centers have assisted affected women in Afghanistan.
The report states that the provision of basic psychological support, individual counseling, and the creation of safe spaces have played an important role in reducing anxiety, fear, and mental health problems among women.
The United Nations emphasized that psychosocial empowerment programs have included training in stress management skills, strengthening self-confidence, and self-care methods.
UNFPA added that the continuation of such services can contribute to improving mental health conditions and enhancing the capacity of women and girls in difficult circumstances.
