The United Nations has warned that more than 7.8 million people in South Sudan are facing food insecurity, making the country one of the world’s most severe hunger crises.
The UN said that if additional funding is not provided, food assistance for around 240,000 vulnerable refugees could be suspended by the end of September.
The organization warned that the suspension of food aid could put the lives of thousands of families and vulnerable people at serious risk and increase the need for urgent humanitarian assistance.
South Sudan has been affected by conflict, economic instability, and climate crises for years, and millions of people in the country depend on humanitarian assistance.
