The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that in 2025, more than 183,000 children in Afghanistan will have received vaccination services.
The organization said on Wednesday, December 31, in a published report that this vaccination program has been part of the United Nations’ efforts to support vulnerable children and families in Afghanistan.
According to the report, these children include returnees, internally displaced persons, and low-income families who have limited access to health centers.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) had also announced that to protect children’s health, it had vaccinated thousands of children in Afghanistan’s border areas against various diseases, including polio and measles.
The “Polio-Free Afghanistan” initiative had also warned earlier that children returning from Pakistan must receive polio vaccines at the borders because positive polio cases in that country have increased.
