UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that more than 1,600 attacks on schools were verified worldwide in 2025 alone.

The organization said on Wednesday, September 9, on X that attacks on schools constitute a violation of children’s rights, safety, and future.

UNICEF stressed that governments and all parties involved in conflicts must protect schools, students, teachers, and education personnel from attacks and military use.

According to the organization, the United Nations has recorded more than 15,000 attacks on schools in conflict-affected areas between 2005 and 2025.

UNICEF said that attacks on educational facilities not only threaten the lives of children and education personnel but also disrupt children’s access to education.

The organization emphasized that every child has the right to access education in a safe environment and that the protection of educational facilities must be ensured during armed conflicts.
