Xi Jinping has said that Beijing and Pyongyang have expanded their strategic cooperation based on equality and shared interests for a “new era.”
According to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency, Xi made the remarks ahead of his visit to North Korea as part of ongoing bilateral discussions between the two countries.
The Chinese president said relations between China and North Korea have entered a new phase of development in recent years, with cooperation accelerating across multiple sectors.
“Amid a changing and complex international environment, China and North Korea have advanced their strategic partnership on the basis of mutual respect, win-win cooperation, and political trust,” Xi said.
He added that collaboration in trade, energy, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, and regional development projects has continued to expand, further strengthening ties between the two countries.
