The former National Security Adviser (NSA) of Afghanistan, in reaction to the report of the Taliban’s Education and Higher Education Commission to modify the curriculum, which was published by Hasht-e Subh, says that the Taliban are depleting a society to the level of a “suicide-promoting school” with their curriculum.
Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, who formerly served as NSA to Afghanistan’s civilian administration as well as a foreign minister, tweeted on Saturday: “We are facing a fundamental upheaval – a development that will set society back a thousand years.”
“With the most primitive beliefs and interpretations, they reduced women to objects, and now with this education curriculum, they are reducing a society to the level of a suicide school,” he added.
Students now need to acquire modern knowledge on humanity, according to him.
Hasht-e-Subh has obtained the Taliban’s final scheme for the modification of school curricula that was prepared by the Taliban’s Education and Higher Education Commission.
According to the report, in addition to removing some school subjects from education curricula, the Taliban have put forward many personal recommendations that will change the content of school textbooks to a great extent, making the curriculum similar to the previous rule of the Taliban in the late 1990s.
The Taliban had repeatedly announced the creation of an Islamic curriculum, saying that it is a necessity to education institutions in Afghanistan.
