Germany, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom have said they are prepared to lift sanctions on Iran if it takes “clear and verifiable steps” regarding its nuclear program.
According to a report by Al Jazeera on Sunday night, June 14, the leaders of the four European countries stressed in a joint statement that Iran must “never acquire nuclear weapons.”
The statement also said the countries are ready to work with the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the issue.
The four nations additionally called for the unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
