Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened to attack US ships in the Indian Ocean if a new war breaks out.
Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, September 27, that Ali Mohammadi, deputy political commander of the IRGC Navy, made the remarks.
According to the report, Mohammadi said that if another war breaks out, Iran will “undoubtedly attack and destroy” US ships and destroyers, even in the Indian Ocean.
Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high over control of the Strait of Hormuz, amid concerns about a new conflict between the two sides.
However, following clashes several weeks ago, both sides have avoided further confrontation and appear to be seeking to maintain a state of neither war nor peace.
