António Guterres has emphasized that oceans are a reminder of how deeply humanity is interconnected.

In a post on X on Monday, June 8, marking World Oceans Day, Guterres said oceans shape the global climate, support ecosystems and economies, and provide food for billions of people around the world.

He added that the world must act with determination to build a new relationship with the oceans, one grounded in science and shared responsibility.

World Oceans Day is an international observance aimed at raising awareness about the importance of oceans and the need to protect them.
