Hannah Neumann, a member of the European Parliament, has said that deporting migrants to Afghanistan not only fails to create security, but also contributes to strengthening the Taliban and expanding terrorism.

Neumann wrote on X on Tuesday, May 12, that the process places heavy pressure on people and will also have negative consequences.

She stressed that if European countries genuinely care about security, they must also take migration and foreign policies into account.

Neumann had previously warned that deporting migrants to Afghanistan would be a strategic mistake.

She also said that if migrants return to Afghanistan, some of them could become connected to structures such as Taliban-linked networks and religious schools.
