Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, has warned about what he described as a “military display of extra-regional powers” in the Strait of Hormuz.
Gharibabadi wrote on X on Saturday, July 4, that Iran warns against any military movements in the Strait of Hormuz.
“Security in the Strait of Hormuz belongs to the coastal states; those who create crises will be responsible for the consequences of their adventurism; this is a serious warning,” he said.
The Iranian official’s remarks came after Britain and France recently announced they are ready to support freedom of navigation in the Strait.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transit route, has become a point of tension between Tehran and the West following the recent war between the United States and Israel and Iran.
