Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has described the United States’ attempt to present a draft resolution aimed at the “isolation of Iran” as “absurd and deceptive.”

The mission said on Wednesday, May 13, on X that, due to political pressure and coercion, this issue cannot be interpreted as legitimizing Washington’s actions.

The statement added that the United States continues to pursue “internationally wrongful” acts against Iran.

Iran’s mission claimed that these actions, in some cases, resemble piracy and involve violations of international law.

It further stated that the accession of some countries to the draft under political pressure, threats, and coercion cannot reflect a genuine international consensus.

The Iranian mission also said that US claims of broad support for the draft are an attempt to “create legitimacy for predetermined political objectives” and to “undermine the credibility of the UN Security Council.”
