Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip remains part of Israel’s policy.
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, July 1, that Netanyahu made the remarks during an interview with an Israeli media outlet.
According to the report, the Israeli prime minister discussed the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza and the establishment of Jewish settlements in the territory.
Israel first raised the issue of relocating Gaza’s Palestinian population following the Oct. 7 war with Hamas and its subsequent military operations in the enclave.
Critics have described the proposal as an attempt at “ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu also recently rejected the two-state solution, saying there is “no room for two states” between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea.
