Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the new US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as a “heavy cost” for the Iranian government and its supporters.
Netanyahu said in a post on his official X account on Tuesday, August 25, that the new pressure from Washington targets the Islamic Republic’s financial and economic resources.
His remarks came after US President Donald Trump’s administration announced a new economic campaign aimed at cutting Iran’s financial ties and isolating Tehran.
Washington has described the campaign as an effort to increase pressure on the Islamic Republic and prevent Iran from accessing financial resources globally.
