Poland’s Border Guard says it has detained 54 migrants, including 15 Afghan nationals, who were attempting to enter the country illegally from Lithuania.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, the Border Guard said the migrants did not have legal documents and were found inside the container of a cargo truck.
According to the statement, the group also included 30 Pakistani and nine Bangladeshi nationals.
The Border Guard said the detained migrants would be returned to Lithuania.
Many Afghan citizens continue to take dangerous irregular migration routes to Europe due to poverty, lack of employment opportunities, and the search for better living conditions.
