Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, on peace efforts and diplomatic talks.
In a post on X on Wednesday, June 24, Sharif expressed appreciation for Qatar’s steady support of the peace efforts that led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The Pakistani prime minister described the conversation as “cordial and warm.”
He added that both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in the first round of technical talks held in Switzerland and emphasized the importance of sustaining the process through continued dialogue and diplomacy.
Sharif affirmed that Pakistan remains committed to working with Qatar to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity in the region, and said he hopes to host the Emir of Qatar in Pakistan later this year.
