In an exclusive report, the Daily Etilaat Roz newspaper revealed the existence of widespread corruption in the general traffic directorate under Taliban rule.
Based on the report published on Saturday, Hasibullah Mukhtar, the Taliban’s general traffic director, who is affiliated with the Haqqani network, has illegally recruited his relatives, embezzling the daily revenues of this department.
The report indicates that Hasibullah Mukhtar fired the employees of the traffic department after the Taliban took over, replacing them with 61 of his relatives, all of whom are residents of Sayed Abad district, Maidan Wardak province.
The Taliban’s general traffic director has also issued driving licenses to five women who apparently do not reside in Afghanistan, even in the situation where the Taliban have deprived women of the right to appear in public after they took over Afghanistan.
According to Etilaat Roz , the revenue of the General Directorate of Traffic before the Taliban’s rise was 17 million AFG per day, but after Hasibullah Mukhtar took over the seat of this directorate, the revenue of the General Directorate of Traffic decreased from 17 million to 10 million AFG per day.
Meanwhile, Khial Mohammad Khawar, the director of Kabul traffic and one of the figures close to the Taliban’s prime minister, has complained several times about Hasibullah Mukhtar’s interference in the recruitment processes in this department without him being aware of it.
