Mehdi Habibpour, head of the Babolsar Lifesaving and Diving Association in Iran’s Mazandaran province, has reported that three Afghan nationals drowned in the coastal waters of the province.

Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday, August 30, that efforts to find the body of the third drowning victim are still underway.

According to the report, Habibpour said the incident occurred on Friday evening after four Afghan nationals entered the water to swim.

He added: “Four Afghan nationals had entered the sea to swim. One of them, due to his physical condition, fell behind the other three. After some time, he realized that his companions were no longer there. After leaving the water, he informed the Lifesaving Association.”

According to Habibpour, the bodies of two of the drowning victims have so far been recovered and transferred to a morgue for legal procedures.

Meanwhile, swimming in the sea for recreation during the hot season also claims the lives of many Afghan nationals inside Afghanistan.
