Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Herat, has announced that 14 commercial agreements worth more than $510 million have been signed between traders from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in Herat province.
Saeedi said on Tuesday, April 14, in a statement that these agreements were signed during a meeting attended by the Taliban governors of Herat and Andijan, Uzbekistan, with traders from both sides present.
He added that the total value of these agreements exceeds $510 million and that their purpose is to expand economic and trade cooperation between the Taliban and Uzbekistan.
Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Taliban governor of Herat, described the signing of these agreements as an important step in strengthening economic relations between the Taliban and Uzbekistan.
He stated that Herat, as one of the key trade and transit hubs of Afghanistan, has significant potential to attract foreign investment.
Shuhrat Rahmonov, the governor of Andijan, Uzbekistan, described the agreements as a sign of the serious commitment of traders from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to expand economic cooperation.
He also announced the readiness of Uzbek traders to invest in various sectors, including industry, construction, energy, and agriculture, in Herat.
