Local sources say that Lailma, the wife of Salam Maftoon, a local singer, was killed by unidentified gunmen.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily, on Thursday, May 7, that the incident took place at around 8:30 a.m. in Sayyad village, Ishkashim district.

According to the sources, Lailma was shot with a hunting weapon by unknown individuals while she was on her way to a tailoring workshop.

The sources also said that Lailma was a follower of the Ismaili sect.

Officials at the Ishkashim clinic have confirmed her death, but no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the motive remains unclear.

The incident comes at a time when insecurity, targeted killings, armed robberies, and disappearances have increased in recent days in several provinces of Afghanistan.
