UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that polio has no cure, but it can be prevented through vaccination.

The organization wrote on Monday, April 13, 2026, on its X page that as long as the polio virus continues to circulate in Afghanistan, every child under the age of five must receive two drops of the vaccine.

UNICEF emphasized that in order to prevent the spread of the disease, it is essential that no child is left out of the vaccination process.

The organization also called on “parents, caregivers, and community leaders” to cooperate in this regard and ensure that all children are vaccinated.

UNICEF added that the cooperation of families and communities alongside health teams can help end and eradicate polio in Afghanistan.
