The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that it has assisted more than 90,000 people in eastern Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake in the region, but many families still require support.
The organisation wrote on X on Tuesday, September 1, that one year after the earthquake, food insecurity remains a daily challenge for vulnerable communities in eastern Afghanistan.
The World Food Programme said that despite the assistance provided, the recovery and reconstruction process for earthquake-affected families is still ongoing.
The organisation added that many families affected by the earthquake continue to face difficulties caused by food insecurity and meeting their basic needs.
Last year’s earthquake caused widespread damage and casualties in parts of eastern Afghanistan, leaving a large number of families in need of humanitarian assistance.
