Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has announced that the country, together with Slovakia, will ask the European Union to lift sanctions on imports of oil and gas from Russia.
TASS reported on Saturday night, April 4, that Orbán, following talks with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico, said the two countries are calling for immediate action to prevent energy shortages and rising prices in Europe.
He has called on Brussels to immediately suspend the sanctions imposed on Russian energy, and has also urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to reopen the Druzhba oil pipeline.
According to Orbán, Europe is facing the risk of an energy shortage and must secure its oil and gas supplies as soon as possible.
